At the sale, 27 tracts changed hands. The highest bid of $1.37 million was made by GMT Exploration Co. of Denver for 280 acres in Lea County.
In December 2011, the state earned $2.56 million. The total so far for state fiscal year 2013, which ends June 31, is $27.24 million, said Marti Niman, public relations specialist at the State Land Office.
The bonuses, or bids, earned from this month?s sale go directly to trust beneficiaries, including public schools, hospitals and universities. In fiscal year 2012, all of the state?s trust lands and permanent funds produced a record amount of revenue, totaling more than $650 million for the beneficiaries.
